DP World has picked Jason Varsamidis, who has been with the business for almost 30 years, as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Asia Pacific. The move was announced in Singapore on 15 October 2026 and took effect the same day.

From finance chief to regional head

Varsamidis joined in 1997, when the business was still P&O Ports. Much of his career since has been in finance. He spent seven years as CFO of DP World Australia, then became CFO of the Asia Pacific region in 2020, the job he held until now. Along the way he has worked on mergers and acquisitions, large infrastructure projects and turnaround programmes.

What he now runs

The region covers 22 geographies and more than 12,000 employees across both DP World’s ports and terminals and its logistics business.

His brief is to set strategy for the region, lift operating performance, build stronger end-to-end supply chains for customers and grow DP World’s integrated logistics offer. The company will say separately who takes over as Asia Pacific CFO.

Group CEO Yuvraj Narayan described him as “a highly respected leader with a deep understanding of our business” and said the choice gives the region continuity. Varsamidis said he was “honoured to lead DP World in Asia Pacific.”

Key facts

  • Appointee: Jason Varsamidis
  • New role: CEO and Managing Director, DP World Asia Pacific
  • Effective: 15 October 2026
  • Previous role: CFO, DP World Asia Pacific (since 2020)
  • Scope: 22 geographies, more than 12,000 employees

Why it matters

Many of the world’s busiest trade lanes run through Asia Pacific, and shifting supply chains have made the region central to DP World’s growth. Choosing an insider who knows the region’s numbers closely points to steady execution rather than a change of course, along with a continued push to sell customers end-to-end logistics instead of port capacity alone.
